Resin Driveways
How much does a resin driveway cost?
The cost depends on the size of the area, aggregate chosen and whether a new sub-base is required. As a rough guide, expect £60–£100+ per m². We always provide a free, written, fixed-price quote before any work starts.
How long does a resin driveway last?
A properly installed resin bound driveway should last 15–25 years. As approved Ox Resin installers, we offer guarantees of up to 20 years on our resin installations.
Is a resin driveway porous?
Yes. Resin bound driveways are fully porous — rainwater drains through the surface and into the ground, making them SUDS-compliant and meaning you don't need planning permission to replace a front garden driveway.
How long does installation take?
Most resin driveways are completed in a single day. Larger or more complex jobs may take two days. You can typically drive on the surface within 24 hours of installation.
Can resin be laid over existing tarmac or concrete?
Often yes — if the existing surface is sound, crack-free and level. We'll assess the existing base on our free site visit and advise whether it's suitable.
Patios & Paving
What patio materials do you install?
We install porcelain, natural stone (including Indian sandstone and limestone), concrete flags and block paving. We'll help you choose the right material for your garden and budget.
How long does a patio installation take?
A typical patio takes two to five days depending on size, complexity and material. We'll give you a clear timeline before work begins.
Do you need to dig up the existing patio?
Usually yes — we need to prepare a proper sub-base. Laying new paving directly over an old slab rarely gives satisfactory long-term results.
What is the difference between porcelain and natural stone?
Porcelain is manufactured, highly consistent in colour and texture, extremely hard-wearing and very low maintenance. Natural stone has unique variation in each slab, a warmer aesthetic and needs sealing. Both are excellent choices — it comes down to personal preference.
Driveways
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
For permeable surfaces (such as resin bound), no planning permission is needed. For non-permeable surfaces (such as standard tarmac or block paving) covering more than 5m² of front garden, you may need permitted development approval. We'll advise you during the free site visit.
What is the difference between block paving and resin?
Block paving has individual blocks with visible joints, giving a traditional look. Resin offers a seamless, contemporary surface. Resin is fully porous and lower maintenance; block paving allows individual blocks to be lifted for utility access.
How long does tarmac take to go off?
Tarmac is typically firm enough to walk on within a few hours and drive on within 24 hours, though we recommend avoiding sharp turns for the first week while the surface fully cures.
Artificial Grass
Is artificial grass safe for children and pets?
Yes. Modern artificial turf is designed to be safe for both children and pets. It's non-toxic, soft underfoot and easy to clean. Most products are also treated to resist pet odours.
Does artificial grass need maintenance?
Minimal maintenance is required. An occasional brush with a stiff broom to keep the pile upright and a jet wash once or twice a year is all that's needed.
How does drainage work with artificial grass?
Artificial grass is installed on a compacted aggregate sub-base with a permeable membrane, allowing rainwater to drain freely through the surface.
Fencing
How high can I build my fence?
Generally, fences up to 2m at the rear and 1m at the front (roadside) don't require planning permission. Check with your local council if in doubt — we're happy to advise.
What type of posts do you use?
We use concrete posts set in concrete for all fence installations. This is far more durable than timber posts set in concrete, and dramatically extends the life of your fence.
